Get Serious at UMSL

Do the math. UMSL offers the best value

What does it mean to be a student at the University of Missouri–St. Louis? It means getting to choose from 54 bachelor’s degree programs and learning from the professor who wrote your textbook. Best of all, it means being able to focus on your career when you’re done and not a boatload of debt!  You can get a top-ranked education, with opportunities to tap into our extensive network of partnerships, for an affordable price. Take a look at our numbers:

  • In 2010 UMSL enrolled 16,802 students. The average freshman ACT score of 23.5 tops both the Missouri and national average.

Without it, there would be no cheese

When you order a pizza and it shows up at your door, do you ever think how it got there? Not just the delivery driver who dropped it off, but even farther back than that? Do you think about the process, where the ingredients came from, how they were brought to the pizza parlor, how they were put together for your order and how, ultimately, your pizza showed up at your door, hot and ready to eat?

If so, then logistics and operational management could be your field. It’s the process in business that assures the appropriate goods and services get to the right place, at the right time, in the right quality and quantity.

The University of Missouri–St. Louis offers an undergraduate emphasis in LOM and a doctorate in Logistics & Supply Chain Management.

The real scoop on accreditation

Accreditation. What is it and who cares? Well, it’s a guarantee that the accredited program or college meets the highest of standards. And you should care, and not only you, but potential employers will recognize the value of your degree – the fact that you attended an accredited institution is a indication that you received a great education from a solid institution.

All of the degree and graduate certificate programs in the College of Business Administration at the University of Missouri–St. Louis carry the prestigious accreditation of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB has been in existence for nearly 100 years and awards accreditation only to the top business schools in the country. In St. Louis, only three institutions carry AACSB accreditation. UMSL being one.

The College of Business Administration at UMSL is the only one of the three to carry separate AACSB accreditations for its business and accounting programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. This puts UMSL’s College of Business Administration in the company of the top 10 percent of business schools in the country.

Being an AACSB-accredited institution entails regular and comprehensive reviews of curriculum, faculty, facilities, technology and resources. The qualifications of the faculty have been scrutinized, which ensures that you will be learning from individuals who are engaged in research and the most recent developments in their fields. Degree programs have been designed to provide you with the knowledge, tools and skills you need to be successful in your career.

Small-school feel on a big campus

Students choose a university for several reasons. Some might prefer the large university experience while others are intrigued by a small liberal arts education. Maybe you can’t decide and would like a little of each. Well, at the University of Missouri–St. Louis you can have both.

UMSL is a major university located within a bustling metropolitan region. But nestled among the campus’ 350 rolling acres, you’ll find the Pierre Laclede Honors College.

We devote the entire college to our highest academic achievers. More than 500 honors students make up this tight-knit community with a student-to-instructor ratio of 13-to-1.

Our honors students are not just another face in a large, crowded lecture hall. Their professors know their names and get to know the students. They enjoy this intimate education experience while also receiving all the benefits offered by a large university.

Honors students experience instruction in small discussion seminars and one-on-one independent study, all at no additional cost. They also have the opportunity of partaking in a writing program and many opportunities for individualized research and internships.
